The Montparnasse Tower was part of the extensive urban redevelopment project of the Montparnasse neighbourhood. The first stone was laid in 1970, and construction was completed in 1973 on the Tower, which is the only skyscraper in Paris.

For the most part, the Tower contains corporate offices. More employees work here than anywhere else in Paris : 5,000 each day. The 56th floor offers a panoramic view over Paris. Visitors can see wide avenues and narrow streets, the largest Parisian monuments and panoramic maps, along with multimedia animations and photographs of old Paris that provide visitors with landmarks. To enjoy the view to the fullest, take a little break in the 360 Café. Le Ciel de Paris is a gourmet restaurant with a dream view over the City of Lights, ideal for a romantic night on the town. Keep a little souvenir from this trip by stopping in the gift shop before going back down. At the foot of the tower, make some time for larger purchases at the shopping centre.
