A motif, a story

The toile de Jouy, a fabric with patterns printed since the 18th century took its name in the Yvelines department, in Jouy-en-Josas. These materials, designed in the factories of Oberkampf, have made their reputation through the variety of designs offered.
Manufacturing techniques previously kept secret are now accessible to visitors at the Château de l'Eglantine. Indeed, this historic site shelters the museum of the fabric of Jouy, where one can discover the printing material, the old drawings used to carry out the printed patterns as well as the wooden boards, plates, copper rolls and other materials needed to print the canvas.
In addition to the manufacturing processes, the museum gives free access to the exteriors, with 1700m² of surface, made up of flower beds which simulate the fabrics which were spread out in the sun in the fields surrounding the factory.
In addition, the museum comes alive all year round with cultural events such as "the Eglantine market", an entertainment program for adults and children on various themes, "Garden spirit", a moment of meeting and sharing between amateurs and professionals of the garden, or even "literary meetings", which offers the possibility of meeting one or more authors within the framework of the publication of their work.
